COMPANY WESSEX

Company Wessex is a graduate dance company, established in January 2019, to support the making of new work for Wessex Dance Academy. The company meet for projects throughout the year to work with Artistic Director, Hannah Martin-Reilly, often in collaboration with other creative partners. The company explore together creative ideas and devise new dance work, which is then gifted to each new cohort.

Vikki Mead

Vikki qualified with a BA (Honours) in Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban in 2015 and completed her MA in Performance as part of Mapdance Company at Chichester University in 2016.

Vikki currently teaches in Horsham and surrounding areas and has been performing around London in primary schools with a Truefitt collective raising the awareness of health and well being. Vikki has recently been collaborating and performing alongside world class violinist Andrew Bernardi and his string quartet and working as part of MorvellDance to create a piece for the Brighton dance trail.

She joined Company Wessex in 2019.

Amy Lyster

Amy is originally from Dublin, Ireland. She trained at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Dance in 2015. Upon graduating, she gained a place in Ireland’s graduate programme, Step Up, performing in a new commission by Helene Cathala (FR) on a short national tour.

In 2017 she completed an MA in Performance as part of Mapdance, the masters touring company at the University of Chichester. During her time with the company, she performed in new works by Richard Alston, Kevin Finnan, Abi Mortimer, Lee Brummer/Israel Aloni and Liz Aggiss.

Amy is currently working with MorvellDance on their new work premiering at Brighton Dance Trail in May 2020. She is the Youth Theatre Assistant at the Kings Theatre, where she is enjoying developing her skills in movement direction and working with young actors. She is also a guest tutor in the Theatre department at the University of Chichester.

She joined Company Wessex in 2020.

Gabrielle Martin

Gabrielle began dancing at the Sussex School of Dance before joining Legat School of Dance. She went on to graduate from Rambert School in 2017.

Since graduating she has had the opportunity to work on a number of projects and short films, including being part of art installations for the sculptor Tuli Litvak, Jennifer Irons Ironic Dance and Nat.co as part of GradLab Project.

She joined Company Wessex in 2019.

Claire Hackston

Claire trained at London Contemporary Dance School, graduating with first-class honours.

Whilst attending LCDS Claire performed works by choreographers such as Lea Anderson, Richard Alston, Hofesh Shechter and Liz Aggiss. During this time, she also worked with Rosemary Lee and OperaUpClose. Since graduating Claire has performed with Katie Dale-Everett Dance in ‘Virtual You’.

She joined Company Wessex in 2018 and has been involved in projects including ‘The distance between us’, which was performed at Winchester Discovery Centre as part of the Agnes Martin exhibition and later made into a dance film. She has also performed at The Grange and as a role model alongside Cohort 23.

Rachel Sullivan

Rachel is originally from Worthing, South Coast UK and joined Company Wessex in 2020.

She trained at Laban CAT, Ceyda Tanc Youth Dance and Penny&Jules Dance Youth. In 2015 Rachel continued her studies at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, completing her first class Degree and Masters/apprenticeship with Company Chameleon.

She is currently working as a freelance Dance Artist in various projects around the UK.

Chris Andrews

Chris graduated from Tring Park in 2016 and spent the following year working with Chrysalis London.

He first worked with Wessex Dance Academy in August 2019 in the making of ‘Trail’ with Dance Artist Emma Hill and Luke Brown. Since then he has been working as a freelance dancer.

He joins Company Wessex in January 2020 for the creation of their new work.

Brandon Clarke

Brandon was a member of Hampshire Youth Dance Company and trained as part of the CAT scheme at London Contemporary Dance School before going on to graduate from his BA (Hons) Dance from the University of Chichester in 2017.

He has been profoundly involved in different opportunities with Wessex Dance Academy since 2009, including completing the Dance Artist apprentice scheme and returning to join the teaching team since finishing his studies.

He joined Company Wessex in 2018.
